Use cases
The further you are from a desk, the more this matters
IFS is strongest where the work is physical, distributed and asset-heavy — which is exactly where the people generating the data are least likely to be sitting in front of the ERP.
Which industries benefit most from conversational AI on IFS Cloud?
Asset-intensive and service-heavy industries benefit most: manufacturing, maintenance and EAM, field service, supply chain, energy and utilities, aerospace and defence, construction and engineering, and finance teams. In each, the people closest to the work are the furthest from the ERP screen — and the ones whose data everyone else depends on.

Maintenance & EAM
NgageChat is a conversational AI assistant for IFS Cloud EAM. Maintenance teams describe a fault, ask for an asset’s history, check a work order’s state or release work in plain language, and NgageChat reads and writes IFS through the OData REST API under each person’s own IFS login — so the record gets created at the moment the problem is spotted.
Manufacturing
NgageChat gives IFS Cloud manufacturing teams a conversational interface to production data. Supervisors ask about shop order progress, material shortages, scrap and work centre load in plain language from a phone, and can release shop orders or report operations — written back to IFS through the OData REST API with a confirmation step.
Field service
NgageChat puts IFS Cloud within reach of field service technicians through conversation. From a phone, a technician asks what the job is, whether the part is in the van or the nearest store, and what happened last time — then reports the work back by describing it. Everything is written to IFS under their own login.
Supply chain
NgageChat answers IFS Cloud supply chain questions conversationally: stock balance and availability across sites, overdue purchase orders by supplier, customer order backlog, and shortages against demand. It queries IFS live through the OData REST API and can create requisitions, update dates and release orders inside the user’s IFS permissions.
Energy & utilities
NgageChat gives energy and utility teams conversational access to IFS Cloud from wherever the asset is. Crews check asset history and outstanding work, record readings and report incidents by describing them; every action is executed under the individual’s own IFS login and logged, which matters when the record is also the compliance evidence.
Aerospace & defence
NgageChat brings conversational access to IFS Cloud without widening access. Each user authenticates with their own IFS account, so IFS permission sets remain the boundary; every write is confirmed on screen before it commits; and the full conversation and tool trail is logged. It can be self-hosted so nothing crosses your environment boundary.
Construction & engineering
NgageChat gives project-based businesses conversational access to IFS Cloud. Site and project teams ask about cost against budget, sub-contract position, activity progress and outstanding work, and report issues and incidents by describing them — closing the delay between what happens on site and what IFS records.
Finance teams
NgageChat lets finance teams and their internal customers ask IFS Cloud finance questions directly — supplier invoice status, expense approvals, project cost against budget, cost element breakdowns and period balances — answered live from IFS within each person’s own permissions, so restricted data stays restricted.
Ngage Suite
Different job, different product
Conversation is one way into IFS. When the need is a scheduled workflow, an offline form or a permanent screen, another product in the suite is the better answer — and we would rather point you there.
